About the Programme
The debate competition on the topic “Adult or Juvenile Offenders: Should There Be the Same Punishment for Heinous Crimes?” was held on 14th August 2024 at Ishan Institute of Law. The event commenced with an introduction by the debate coordinator, who welcomed the participants, judges, and the audience. The competition aimed to explore the complexities of the justice system and the moral and legal implications of treating adult and juvenile offenders differently. The competition brought together from different semesters, each comprising two speakers: one in favor of that Yes, there should be same punishment for heinous crime to both adult & juvenile offender and one in against No, there should not be same punishment for heinous crime to both adult & juvenile offender.
