Department of Stri Roga And Prasuti Tantra (Gynaecology & Obstetrics)

Department of Stri Roga And Prasuti Tantra focuses on a complete care of women from menarche to menopause and beyond. It not only advocates treatment for various disorders in women but also suggests various regimens at each important transitional phases like Ruthumathicharya during the menstrual phase, garbhasamskara to achieve healthy pregnancy garbhiniparicharyas during pregnancy, soothika paricharya after delivery. It emphasise the importance of women’s health as she is the person who is responsible for the next generation.

With the help of well-equipped hospital facilities, Department imparts training in Ayurvedic Gynaecology and Obstetrics. Gynaecology deals with menstrual disorders, diseases of the female genital tract and venereal diseases. Obstetrics deals with conditions related to maternity as well as normal and abnormal delivery.

Major objectives of the department are-

  • To promote Garbhini Paricharya (Antenatal care through Ayurveda) through
    quality teaching and clinical training
  • Explore Ayurveda treatment modalities for various Gynaecological disorders.
  • To validate pharmacotherapy of drugs & formulations related to Prasuti Tantra
    & Striroga.
  • To implement Standard Operative Procedures (SOP) for various therapeutic
    procedures related to Prasuti Tantra & Striroga
  • To maintain genital tract health, to strengthen reproductive organs there by
    preventing diseases in reproductive organs of women
  • To cure genital tract diseases with appropriate Ayurveda medicines and Ayurveda procedures.
  • To have a healthy progeny from a healthy mother

Department includes providing Ayurvedic Medical Care and Treatment for various diseases of female like Anartav( Amennorhea), Artav Dushti (Dysmenorrhea), Asrugdar (Menorrhagia) , Vandhyatwa ( Infertility), Cysts related to Beeja Granthi, Shroni Shoth (Pelvic Inflammation), Rajah Kruchrata (Dysmenorrhea), etc.

The Prasuti Section of the Department provides Ayurvedic Medical Care and Treatment for various conditions of pregnant women like Garbhini Parikshana (Antenatal care), Garbhini Paricharya, Prasav Karma, Sutika Paricharya and Mahila Kalyana.

The Department also performs various Ayurvedic procedures like Uttara Basti (Vaginal, Intrauterine), Kshara Karma, Yoni Prakshalan, Pichu, Anuvasan Basti, Pottali etc. to Female Patients as a part of treatment.

Various surgical procedures are also carried out frequently and contraception like Cu-T is advised to patients for family planning purposes.
