Author Guidelines – for submission of manuscript:
Authors are invited to send their papers via email for publication in this Research Journal. Please ensure that the paper you send is authentic and relates to sociology, political science, public policy, and economics in the context of law. Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts in the following prescribed
format. Do not provide manuscript in PDF format.

THE EDITORIAL PROCESS:

  • Ishan Law Journal is an annual peer-reviewed journal dedicated to offering an open access platform for author’s original work in order to emphasize the importance and multidisciplinary approach to law. The journal expects that authors would authorize one of them to correspond with the Journal for all matters related to the manuscript.
  • All manuscripts received are duly acknowledged.
  • On submission, editors review all submitted manuscripts initially for suitability for formal review. Manuscripts with insufficient originality, serious or technical flaws, or lack of a significant importance are rejected before proceeding for formal peer- review.
  • Manuscripts that are unlikely to be of interest to the Ishan law journal (ILJ) readers are also liable to be rejected at this stage itself.
  • Manuscripts accepted for publication are copy edited for grammar, punctuation, print style, and format. Page proofs are sent to the corresponding author. The corresponding author is expected to return the corrected proofs within three days. It may not be possible to incorporate corrections received after that period. The whole process of submission of the manuscript to final decision and sending and receiving proofs is completed online.
  • Processes for appeals the authors do have the right to appeal if they have a genuine cause to believe that the editorial board has wrongly rejected the paper. If the authors wish to appeal the decision, they should email the editorial office explaining in detail the reason for the appeal. The appeals will be acknowledged by the editorial office and will be investigated in an unbiased manner. The processing of appeals will be done within 6 – 8 weeks. While under appeal, the said manuscript should not be submitted to other journals. The final decision rests with the Editor in Chief of the journal. Second appeals are not considered.
  • Anti-Plagiarism Policy Plagiarism includes duplicate publication of the author’s own work, in whole or in part without proper citation or mispresenting other’s ideas, words, and other creative expression as one’s own. The Journal follows strict anti-plagiarism policy. All manuscripts submitted to Ishan Law journal (ILJ) undergoes plagiarism check with commercially available software. Based on the extent of plagiarism, authors may be asked to address any minor duplication, or similarity with the previous published work. If plagiarism is detected after publication, the Journal will investigate. If plagiarism is established, the journal will notify the authors’ institution and funding bodies and will retract the plagiarised article.

Manuscript Submission: Authors are asked to write their manuscripts in easily readable style in English. Spelling and legal terminology should conform to Standard English usage and should be consistent throughout the paper.

ACCEPTANCE
Confirmation of acceptance will be given once the author satisfies the comments and comply with the changes suggested. Confirmation about the acceptance of the manuscript will be sent to the Email address of the corresponding author

After final corrections, approved articles are uploaded in the website constantly in the current issue

AUTHOR INSTRUCTIONS

General Instructions: The Ishan Law Journal follows ‘The Bluebook: A uniform system of the citation (20th Edn.) Format of the citation. Body of the manuscript should be in Arial, Size 12 with 1.5 spacing. The footnotes should be in Arial, size 10 with single spacing.
Language and Grammar: Whole article must be in English language in sentence case and free from grammatical mistakes. Ayurvedic terms are to be made italics and the relevant English meaning of the Ayurvedic terms should be given in the bracket in whole manuscript.
Preparation of Manuscript

Acknowledgement: We/I would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude towards our (Professor) for her/his outstanding direction, monitoring, and consistent encouragement throughout the completion of this project topic. His/her blessings, assistance, and direction from time to time will take me a long way in the life journey we are about to begin on. Also, the advice he/she gave about sticking to the deadline was encouraging.

Declaration: Author needs to sign a declaration that the manuscript he is submitting is his original writing and is authentic.

Table of content: A systematic table should be provided with original page number of the content serial wise.

Index of Authorities: Index would include cases that you have referred to in the manuscript. you may also include the list of abbreviations.

Scope: This includes offering a basic outline of your topic. Simply put, you must define what your “research problem” is under this subheading.

Limitation: This aims to narrow the scope of your study topic – the things you don’t want to include in your article, such as any other connected issues or topics that could broaden the reach of your topic. So, this is where you limit the scope of your topic to what you would desire as a researcher.

Literature survey/ Resource used: The former (Literary Survey) is commonl used at the post-graduate level, and it requires you to provide thorough information on the materials you used to assist your research and to compare them. There are basically three kinds of resources- Primary (case laws, Books, statutes), Secondary (Journals, Encyclopedias, commentaries and Articles – both in online and offline).

Research questions/ Hypothesis:

Research questions are the questions you would ask as a researcher to learn more about your subject.
A hypothesis, on the other hand, is a presumption or assumption that is used to further research. It reflects a researcher’s expectation and serves as the foundation for both the beginning and conclusion of a research article.

Abstract: Submission must include a brief abstract of not more than 250 words providing a summary of the paper. A maximum of 5 Keywords must be provided as a part of the abstract.

Introduction: Give a brief overview of the subject. This could also provide some background on the subject. If you don’t have any substantive content, you can use important case law to describe a situation. For instance, if you’re writing about Right to life, you could discuss the case of K.S. Puttaswamy v. union of India.
Chapters: If the paper consists of chapters the chapters should be included in the introduction part.

Conclusion: Will mostly incorporate your opinion or judgment on the topic as a researcher following the research.
Bibliography: The sources used for research should be mentioned in the bibliography.
Covering Letter:- All submissions must be accompanied by a Covering Letter stating the title,
author’s full name, designation, institute they belong and postal address and the author’s contact details. Only the covering letter should contain the above mentioned details and not the manuscript:
Copyright:-
The contributions presented to and accepted for publication and the copyrights therein shall be the intellectual property of the Ishan institute of Law. Every article/comments/notes etc. received for publication will be edited for general suitability of publication by Editorial Board.
Ethics Policy of Journal:-

  • All the contributors are required to follow the Ethics Policy of Journal.
  • All editorial correspondence will be done through email only.
  • Author will receive a complimentary copy of the Journal in which his/her
    articles is published.
  •  Rules for citing the books on the reference list:
  • Use the author’s surname and initial(s). Do not use first name, degrees and the
    like.
  • Follow the author’s name with the year of publication. Year of publication will
    be in parenthesis.
  • Both should be in bold.
  • The title of the book should be next and only the first word in the title or any
    proper name should be in upper case.
  • The publisher of the book is listed last followed by a period.
  • Paper finding place in Journal will be duly communicated to their authors.

Plagiarism Policy:

Plagiarism is the copying of ideas, text, data and other creative work, and presenting it as original research of author without proper citation and acknowledgement. Manuscripts containing plagiarized content are against the standards of quality, research and innovation. Hence, all authors submitting their work to Ishan Law Journal are expected to abide by ethical standards and abstain from plagiarism, in any form.
By submitting their work to the Journal, the author(s) declare and certify that:

 

  • The manuscript submitted for publication is the original work of the author(s) and has neither been published before nor is currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • The author(s) have duly acknowledged the work/idea of any other person (if used) from any source in their research and the same has been mentioned in footnotes/references with proper citation.

Ishan Law Journal uses registered plagiarism check software to ensure the originality of the submission and it reserves the right to reject any submission which contains plagiarized content. If any claim of plagiarism arises before the Journal, after publication of the paper, the author will be offered a chance to defend his/her paper. If the arguments are found to be unsatisfactory, the manuscript will be retracted and removed from the publication.

Note: In case of any dispute regarding the plagiarized content, the Journal shall not be liable for the same.
